Fighting struggling losing
Battles of the body

Flashes brief flashes long
Some clear some dazed
Fire burning on the alter
Animal caught
Throat slit
Heart cut out
Divided among us
Offerings given
Offerings taken
No tears allowed to be shed
Too weak
Need to stay strong
Reeling into their grasp
Hope strangled
Fear embraced
